Southern Aroostook Soil & Water Conservation District will be holding a sale of Brook trout for pond restocking with Mt Springs Trout Farm
Prices for Brook Trout:
5-6" - $2.00 ea
6-7" - $2.40 ea
$5 per bag fee (50 5-6' fish per bag or 33 6-7' per bag)
Other:
Clean Pond - $50/1 gallon
Brook trout orders must be in to SASWCD by April 26, 2013
Trout pickup date is Thursday, May 30, 11am
Pickup will be at the Southern Aroostook SWCD, 304 North St, Houlton (in back parking lot)
Current stocking permits MUST be presented to the SASWCD at placement of order. Applications for IF&W stocking permits (valid for 5 years) may be picked up in person at the District's office or downloaded online at http://www.state.me.us/ifw/licenses_permits/pdfs/fishstocking.pdf

Cortland: Fall-Winter. Popular throughout New England. Medium to medium-large slightly ribbed dull red fruit with a purple blush. Excellent eating and cooking and for cider making. Z3 Order #SS01 - $17.00
Honeycrisp: Ripens early fall. Med-large fruit, mottled and striped red over yellow. Crisp, cream-colored flesh is sweet and juicy. Flavor improves in storage, keeping up to 7 months. Above average scab resistance. Z3 Order #SS02 - $17.00
Sweet 16 (semi dwarf): Fall. Fine-textured crisp flesh for excellent fresh eating.Bronze-red medium-sized fruit. Very hardy and grower-friendly. Reaches best flavor in northern Maine. Keeps until mid-winter. Z3 #SS03 - $17.00

Crabapple 'Dolgo' (two- year old trees): 25'x30' Classic culinary crab still found in old Maine orchards. Pure white blossoms bloom early leading to purple-red fruit good for jelly. Also useful for canning and pickling. Dependable pollinator for all apples. Z2 Order #329A - $25.00
PEARS – (24"-40" 1 year whips; 42" 2 year; a second variety for pollination needed) - all locally grown
Patten (one-year old whip): Late Summer. One of the best quality large hardy pears available. Good fresh eating and for canning. Scab resistant and good pollinator with other varieties. Extremely hardy. Z3 Order #SS04 - $17.00

Honeyberry: Hardy, med-sized fruiting shrub. Small oval fruit is dark blue, tart and high in antioxidants. Similar in bush and fruit as native highbush blueberries. Bush bears at a young age. Will do well in most soils. 9-12" transplants. Z2

Blackberries 'Nelson': Midsummer. Surviving Maine winters for at least a century. Exceptionally hardy with sturdy upright canes. Can be grown on posts or free-standing. Makes excellent jelly and fresh eating. Spreads quickly. Z4 Order #247A – bundle of 3, $26.00
BLUEBERRIES (2 varieties needed for highbush pollination; prefer light acid soil, good drainage and plenty of organic matter)
Highbush Northland: Early. Bears long loose cluster of medium-small dark blue berries with excellent wild flavor. Vigorous, productive and hardy. Z3 Maine grown Order #237A - $12.00
Highbush Chippewa: Early - Mid-Summer. 3-4' at maturity. Very light blue medium sized firm fruit. Flavor similar to the best wild strains. Z3 Order #232A - $12.00
